Thinking in Place Guide (Fall 2010)
Dec 23rd 2010
Welcome to my Thinking in Place Guide. This is multimedia project aimed to create a circuitous personalized thinking route through different kinds of places. The guide is aimed to let a place bring you into thinking.
If you are interested in how this project came about and how it is related to Martin Heidegger, Pierre Hadot, Gilles Deleuze, John Dewey and Ed Casey feel free to download my expository essay on this project.
The Thinking in Place Guide
As a participant you must choose one of two places: either “your room” or “a large corporate store.” Then take with you to this place the following 4 components:
-Place Guide Intro. This is an opening for guide itself. It begins with a disclaimer explaining what you need in order to begin and continues to explore what a guide is.
-Place-Guide Note Cards (Actions). This document contains a list of guiding actions for each place. They are meant to be printed out, cut into note cards and then used by you as you explore a place.
-Place-Guide Note Cards (Quotes). This documents contains a list of quotes for each place. They are meant to be printed out, cut into note cards and then used by you as you explore a place.
-The Audio Guide. The audio guide consists of 8 audio (mp3) tracks for each place. You are meant to download the audio guide onto a portable music device and access the tracks at random (shuffle mode) as you are exploring a place.
